On September 26, 2025, the Guangdong Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Continuing Education Training Program *Clinical Research on Treating Critical, Severe and Intractable Diseases as well as Spleen-Stomach Disorders with Classical TCM Theories* was successfully held at Songgang People's Hospital. The conference gathered numerous renowned domestic specialists to discuss TCM diagnosis and treatment protocols for critical, severe and complicated illnesses, drawing active participation from medical practitioners and medical students across the region. The training session was co-hosted by Han Tongkun, Director of the TCM Department, Chen Min, Academic Leader, and key specialists Xiong Qian and Yu Jiafu.

Professor Yan Fang, Director of the Classical TCM Ward of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine; Professor Zhou Peng, Party Secretary and President of Shenzhen Bao'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Professor Ning Baile, Director of the Traditional Therapy Department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (University Town Branch); Professor Wang Fu, President of Henan Classical Prescriptions Medical Center; Professor Zeng Xianghui from the Classical TCM Department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine; Professor Feng Like, Director of the Joint & Sports Medicine Unit, First Orthopedic Department of Foshan Orthopedic Hospital; Zhang Xu, President of our hospital; Han Tongkun, Director of the TCM Department, together with relevant staff attended the training program.

At the opening ceremony, President Zhang Xu gave a detailed introduction to the hospital and elaborated on the foundation, development and progress of the TCM Department. With strong institutional support, the department has been awarded a series of honors including National Demonstration Unit for TCM Services in General Hospitals, Guangdong Provincial Characteristic Specialty of Spleen-Stomach Diseases during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period, and Bao'an District Distinctive Specialty — Classical TCM Ward. He highlighted that through in-depth exchanges and cooperation with the Classical TCM Ward of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine this year, under the guidance of Professor Zeng Xianghui, the TCM Department has systematically studied the Circular Movement Six-Meridian Syndrome Differentiation System via daily ward rounds, remote consultations and clinical teaching. Rooted in classical TCM doctrines, the department has fully leveraged the clinical advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in treating critical and intractable disorders. This initiative has expanded the range of diseases admitted to the TCM Department, strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration with the Emergency Department and ICU, and greatly improved the hospital’s comprehensive TCM diagnosis and treatment capacity.

Centered on the theme of treating critical, severe, intractable illnesses and spleen-stomach disorders with classical TCM theories, participating experts delivered insightful lectures including: Three-Step Therapy for Refractory Diseases under the Circular Movement Six-Meridian Syndrome Differentiation System, Acupuncture Combined with Herbal Medicine for Ocular Diseases Based on Spirit-Regulating and Root-Consolidating Theory, Electroacupuncture for Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s Disease, Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Infertility with Combined Classical Prescriptions Involving Eighteen Antagonistic Medicinal Pairs, Connotation and Clinical Application of Shaoyang Disease, and Case Sharing of Classical Prescriptions for Perioperative Critical Illnesses.

The conference showcased the profound theoretical attainments of experts in managing critical and complicated disorders, and integrated academic theories with practical clinical discussions to facilitate in-depth comprehension among participants. The training program concluded successfully amid a vibrant academic atmosphere, with all attendees reporting substantial gains from the event.
