1. Bad breath with thick white tongue coating

Sour putrid odor from the baby’s mouth, accompanied by thick white coating on the tongue, signals impaired spleen and stomach function. Mothers need to adjust feeding habits immediately once these symptoms appear.

2. Bluish-purple discoloration on the face

The bluish tint mainly appears on the bridge of the nose or both sides of the nostrils. This is a typical hint of weak digestion. Feed the baby mild, easily digestible food as a dietary adjustment.

3. Slow physical development

Even with sufficient food intake, some infants fail to grow taller. This happens because nutrients cannot be fully digested and absorbed, which fundamentally stems from poor functional capacity of the spleen and stomach. Balanced nutrition alone cannot resolve this issue without conditioning the digestive organs.

4. Restless sleep with spontaneous night sweats

Many parents regard tossing, kicking and constant fidgeting during sleep as normal childish behavior, yet in pediatric TCM, such restlessness is a clear sign of deficient spleen and stomach.

5. Low physical resistance

Immature visceral development leaves babies vulnerable to frequent colds and fevers, even with meticulous daily care. A weak spleen and stomach undermines nutrient absorption and immune function, making the child prone to recurring illnesses.

The developmental state of an infant’s spleen and stomach determines digestion, absorption and nutrient utilization. Mothers must focus on conditioning the baby’s digestive system, especially through scientific dietary management.
