1. Home Care Tips for Young Children

1. Relieve itching

The whole body will itch severely during chickenpox. Ask doctors to prescribe anti-itch medication. Do not allow children to scratch the rashes randomly.

2. Take gentle showers

Give the child a quick shower when feeling unwell to keep the body fresh and comfortable.

3. Trim fingernails short

Cut children’s nails short to prevent scratching and breaking blisters. Cotton mittens may be worn on infants.

4. Maintain skin cleanliness

Bathing is still necessary during the illness. Pat the body dry with a bath towel after showering, then apply anti-itch ointment.

2. Chickenpox in Adults

It is important to note that chickenpox is not exclusive to children. Adults usually develop much more severe symptoms once infected. Cases are often overlooked, leading to delayed treatment and even life-threatening risks.

Declined immunity caused by overfatigue or improper clothing adjustment during seasonal changes allows the varicella virus to invade the body and trigger infection.

Although the pathogen is identical, adults suffer far more severe toxemic symptoms than children, including high fever, headache, vomiting and general malaise:

- Persistent high fever above 40°C;

- More extensive rashes, even hemorrhagic blisters;

- Longer disease course;

- Untimely treatment may lead to complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis, which can be fatal.
