Leg and foot cramps are mainly triggered by cold stimulation, rapid continuous muscle contraction, excessive perspiration, severe fatigue and calcium deficiency. Below are effective preventive methods:

  1. Soak feet in warm water at around 40℃ for 5 to 10 minutes before bedtime. Use a deep basin with sufficient water covering above the ankles. This relaxes tendons, activates blood circulation and relieves muscle spasms.

  2. Warm high-proof liquor (do not ignite it), pour a few drops into palms, and rub the cramp-prone area up and down firmly for two minutes until the skin turns slightly red. The treatment boosts local muscle blood flow and reduces cramp frequency.

  3. Massage vulnerable areas with 5% turpentine oil to mitigate nighttime cramps.

  4. Sip a small amount of plain boiled water before sleep to improve comfort overnight.
