For participants enrolled in medical insurance outside Shenzhen who need reimbursement for outpatient treatment in Shenzhen, off-site medical treatment filing must be completed at the insurance-participating region first. Afterwards, medical services can be received at nationally networked designated medical institutions in Shenzhen with direct settlement by presenting a social security card or medical insurance electronic certificate.

Participants covered by Shenzhen Employee Tier 2 Medical Insurance or Resident Medical Insurance are required to designate one primary medical institution in advance. Filing can be handled following the procedures below, or by dialing the local medical insurance hotline (area code + 12333). Note that the specific reimbursement ratio shall be implemented in accordance with local policies of the insurance-participating region.

1. Complete Off-site Filing

At the insurance-participating region, finish filing as guided through the National Medical Insurance Service Platform APP, National Off-site Medical Treatment Filing Mini Program, local medical insurance WeChat official account and other official channels. Choose either Long-term Off-site Residence or Temporary Outbound Medical Treatment as the filing type. The review process normally takes 1 to 3 working days.

2. Designate a Medical Institution (Applicable to Employee Tier 2 & Resident Medical Insurance)

Participants with Employee Tier 2 Medical Insurance or Resident Medical Insurance shall select one networked designated primary medical institution in Shenzhen (e.g., community health service center) via the system of the insurance-participating region. No reimbursement will be available for general outpatient pooled expenses without prior designation.

Important Reminder for Employee Tier 2 & Resident Medical Insurance Holders

General outpatient pooling benefits are only accessible at the pre-designated primary medical institution; no reimbursement will be granted for treatment received at other medical institutions.
