The Thyroid and Breast Surgery Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital became an independent clinical specialty on July 1, 2018. At present, the department has 28 designated beds and 30 actually available beds. There are 20 medical and nursing staff in total, including 1 Associate Chief Physician, 4 Attending Physicians, 1 Nurse-in-charge, 1 PhD holder and 4 postgraduates.

Since its establishment, the department has carried out a number of advanced domestic and international surgical techniques, including transoral vestibular endoscopic radical thyroidectomy, transareolar endoscopic radical thyroidectomy, parathyroid autotransplantation, small-incision radical thyroidectomy, breast-conserving radical mastectomy, modified radical mastectomy, radical mastectomy, one-stage and two-stage breast prosthesis implantation, single-port endoscopic radical mastectomy and gynecomastia resection.

Minimally invasive surgeries such as thyroid fine-needle aspiration, minimally invasive breast rotary resection and needle biopsy, cervical and axillary lymph node needle biopsy, as well as new chemotherapy techniques including infusion port implantation and PICC catheterization are also routinely performed here.

For breast cancer patients, comprehensive and precise treatment protocols including preoperative neoadjuvant therapy, postoperative chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy are adopted, achieving satisfactory clinical results.
