Urology Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital is equipped with 35 inpatient beds. Its medical team includes 2 Chief Physicians, 4 Associate Chief Physicians, 4 Attending Physicians, 1 Resident Physician and 1 Senior Medical Technologist, among whom 6 hold master’s degrees. There are 14 nurses, most of whom possess bachelor’s degrees and intermediate professional titles.

The department consists of inpatient wards, general urology clinic, urolithiasis clinic, lithotripsy treatment room, cystoscopy room, and andrology & sexual medicine specialized clinic and treatment room. In 2025, it recorded approximately 25,000 outpatient visits, 3,200 discharged patients and over 2,000 surgical procedures. Having obtained the national GCP (Good Clinical Practice) qualification in 2019, the department has undertaken 11 Phase III clinical trials of Class I innovative drugs.

As an early adopter of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery in the city, the department performs a full range of advanced procedures: percutaneous nephrostomy and minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy, flexible and rigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy, ureteroscopic internal incision, transurethral enucleation of the prostate, and plasma resection of bladder tumors; laparoscopic radical cystectomy with ileal neobladder, radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, adrenal tumor resection, radical prostatectomy, pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction, heminephroureterectomy for renal pelvic carcinoma, radical resection of urachal carcinoma, renal cyst unroofing, and surgeries for communicating hydrocele and varicocele in children. It also performs TOT and TVT surgeries for female stress urinary incontinence and other endoscopic operations. In addition, various open surgeries for genitourinary malformations and traumas are routinely carried out. Standardized diagnosis and treatment for urinary calculi, prostate diseases and urological tumors are provided in outpatient services all year round.

The sub-specialty of Andrology & Sexual Medicine takes Professor Yang Huai, Vice Chairman of the Andrology Branch of Guangdong Medical Association, as its academic leader. The team boasts mature experience in urethral and genital surgeries as well as the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction. A dedicated andrology treatment room has been set up, equipped with Rigiscan for erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation assessment, together with magnetic therapy equipment. The diagnosis and treatment of andrological diseases have reached advanced standards within Guangdong Province.
