The Critical Care Medicine Dept (ICU) of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital is a specialized ward dedicated to centralized monitoring and rescue of critically ill patients. It adopts fully closed laminar flow purification design with 12 inpatient beds and 1 negative-pressure isolation room.
The department is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities reaching domestic advanced standards, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) systems, ventilators, biphasic defibrillators, blood purification equipment, bedside fiber bronchoscopes, mild hypothermia therapeutic devices, body warming instruments, bedside color Doppler ultrasound machines, blood gas analyzers, PICCO hemodynamic monitors and BIS bispectral electroencephalography monitors.
It has a well-trained, highly responsible medical team with solid professional foundations proficient in modern medical equipment and critical care medications. The physician team consists of 2 Associate Chief Physicians, 3 Attending Physicians and 3 Resident Physicians, among whom 4 hold master’s degrees or above. The nursing team comprises 7 Nurse-in-charges, 8 Senior Nurses and 6 Registered Nurses, with 15 nurses holding bachelor’s degrees.
The department delivers a full spectrum of rescue techniques for critical illnesses, including ECMO extracorporeal cardiopulmonary support, invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), artificial liver support, hemoperfusion, bedside fiber bronchoscopy and bronchoalveolar lavage, targeted temperature management, critical bedside ultrasound, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral consciousness monitoring, arteriovenous catheterization, endotracheal intubation and tracheotomy, as well as enteral and parenteral nutritional support.
It admits all categories of critically ill patients, such as severe multiple trauma, severe infections, severe pancreatitis, various intoxications, all types of shock, acute liver and renal failure, respiratory failure, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and postoperative resuscitation patients after major surgeries.
