Formerly the combined Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Obstetrics Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital became an independent specialty in 2006. It is a key featured hospital specialty integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, disease prevention and maternal health care. As a powerful perinatal healthcare institution in northwest Shenzhen, it is a member unit of the Critical Maternal Rescue Alliance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the National Preterm Birth Prevention and Treatment Center Alliance, as well as a national training base for pelvic floor rehabilitation. Its service coverage extends across northwest Shenzhen and adjacent parts of Dongguan, with 50 inpatient beds available. The department records over 70,000 outpatient visits annually, attracting numerous pregnant and lying-in women from Shenzhen and Dongguan for prenatal consultation and childbirth.

With sophisticated midwifery skills, the department maintains a low episiotomy rate and a high rate of intact perineum preservation. Warm and comfortable premium wards and delivery rooms are available to create a superior, pleasant medical environment for mothers-to-be and postpartum women.

Upholding integrated development of clinical practice, teaching and research, the department actively carries out clinical research and academic exchanges, and undertakes clinical training for obstetric professionals. Adhering to the core philosophy of "prioritizing maternal and infant safety and pursuing excellent service quality", it provides refined human-centered full-process care, achieving an outpatient satisfaction rate of 96% and an inpatient satisfaction rate of 98%. It has been awarded the title of Advanced Unit for Obstetric Management and Excellent Maternal and Infant Healthcare Unit in Shenzhen for consecutive years.

In the future, the department will further strengthen emergency critical maternal care and preterm birth prevention technologies, refine specialized surgical procedures, improve the full-cycle maternal rehabilitation service system, expand cross-regional medical capacity, and strive to build a high-standard leading perinatal medicine specialty trusted by local residents.
