Founded in 2010, the Rehabilitation Medicine Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital has 30 inpatient beds. The rehabilitation treatment area covers over 1,000 square meters, consisting of physical therapy room, occupational therapy room, speech therapy room, swallowing therapy room, physical agent therapy room, orthotics room and traditional rehabilitation therapy room. The rehabilitation team has a total of 40 medical staff including physicians, therapists and nurses.

The physician team comprises 12 members, among whom 9 hold master’s degrees: 2 Associate Chief Physicians, 7 Attending Physicians and 3 Resident Physicians.

The therapist team has 15 staff: 1 Associate Chief Therapist, 5 Senior Therapists, 7 Therapists and 2 Assistant Therapists.

The nursing team includes 13 nurses: 3 Nurse-in-charges, 4 Senior Nurses, 4 Registered Nurses and 2 Nursing Assistants.

The department delivers more than 20,000 outpatient rehabilitation sessions every year and undertakes clinical teaching for the "3+2" Innovative Program and Rehabilitation Therapy "2+2" Innovative Program of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University.

Professional Service Capacity

The department provides six major rehabilitation categories: neurological rehabilitation, pain rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, obstetric & gynecological rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Comprehensive rehabilitation interventions are adopted, including sound, light, electricity, heat and magnet physical modalities, acupuncture, tuina therapeutic massage, exercise therapy and small needle-knife therapy.

1. Neurological Rehabilitation

Hemiplegia, speech and cognitive disorders, dysphagia and limb spasm caused by stroke and traumatic brain injury; peripheral nerve injury, facial neuritis, urinary retention and incontinence secondary to spinal cord injury.

2. Pain Rehabilitation

Spinal disorders: neck, shoulder, waist and leg pain, sciatica, cervical and lumbar muscle strain, osteoporotic fractures of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae;

Peripheral joint disorders: scapulohumeral periarthritis, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, mother’s wrist, tenosynovitis of hand, snapping hip, knee osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis;

Limb pain resulting from various traumas and post-surgical conditions.

3. Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Joint stiffness after fracture and fracture surgery; limb functional recovery following joint replacement.

4. Pediatric Rehabilitation

Scoliosis, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, speech disorders, torticollis and dyspepsia in children.

5. Obstetric & Gynecological Rehabilitation

Postpartum lumbago and back pain, ilioinguinal syndrome, galactostasis, uterine involution, pelvic floor repair, rectus abdominis diastasis rehabilitation, pubic symphysis separation pain and body shaping after delivery.

6. Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation for patients after myocardial infarction, cardiac stent implantation and heart failure;

Pulmonary rehabilitation for bronchitis, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema and bronchial asthma.
