The Ophthalmology Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital consists of three divisions: ophthalmology outpatient clinic, ophthalmology ward and ophthalmology teaching office.

The department has a medical team of 12 staff members, including 7 physicians (3 Associate Chief Physicians and 4 Attending Physicians), 1 optometrist, 2 specialized nurses and 2 general nurses, among whom 1 holds a doctoral degree and 2 hold master’s degrees.

A full range of ophthalmic surgeries are available, including vitreoretinal surgery for vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane and macular hole; cataract surgery with bifocal, trifocal and toric intraocular lenses; strabismus surgery; endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy; pterygium resection; intravitreal injection and orbital tumor resection.

Medical conservative treatment is provided for ocular surface and corneal disorders, uveitis, optic neuropathy and thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy with hormone therapy and biological agents.

The outpatient clinic delivers comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and treatments: juvenile myopia screening, fundus fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), neonatal fundus screening, visual field test, ocular electrophysiology, various ophthalmic laser therapies, dry eye management, myopia and amblyopia correction. The annual outpatient volume exceeds 40,000 visits.
