As an independent Grade I department of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital, the Medical Imaging Dept boasts a medical imaging team with high academic qualifications and a well-structured talent echelon featuring great development potential. Its professional workforce covers general radiography, CT, MRI, DSA interventional therapy and other imaging fields. In recent years, the department has maintained an annual examination volume of 150,000 patients on average.

The department has 34 medical staff divided into two specialized groups: the diagnostic group and the technical group, including 18 physicians, 12 radiological technologists, 2 nurse practitioners and 2 registration clerks. Among them are 1 PhD holder, 1 master’s degree holder, 7 senior title holders and 5 intermediate title holders, with 80% of all staff holding bachelor’s degrees or above.

The department is equipped with advanced imaging equipment and a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). All devices including bedside radiography and various contrast examination systems have been fully digitalized. The equipment list covers: one Siemens 64-row 128-slice spiral CT, one GE 16-slice spiral CT, one Siemens digital radiography (DR) system, two United Imaging DR systems, one upgraded Kodak Mocha DR, one Kodak computed radiography (CR) system, one Shimadzu digital fluoroscopy system for gastrointestinal imaging, one Wandong fluoroscopy unit, one Hitachi mobile bedside X-ray machine, two Kodak laser imagers of various specifications, and six self-service printers for films and diagnostic reports. A 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, one digital mammography (DM) unit and one mobile digital bedside DR system were additionally introduced in 2019.

Available imaging services are as follows:

1. DR and CR radiography for all body parts;

2. Digital special contrast examinations: barium gastrointestinal series, antegrade and retrograde urography, hysterosalpingography and T-tube cholangiography;

3. Fluoroscopy of the chest and abdomen;

4. Bedside radiography;

5. Whole-body multi-slice spiral CT examinations (plain scan and contrast-enhanced scan), low-dose CT, high-resolution CT, CT angiography, 3D reconstruction, CT urography and virtual endoscopy.
