The Pathology Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital was founded in May 2010, covering an area of about 300 square meters. It has a team of six staff members: 1 Chief Pathologist, 1 Associate Chief Pathologist, 1 Resident Pathologist, 2 Senior Pathology Technologists and 1 Junior Pathology Technologist, forming a well-structured talent echelon.

Available services include routine HE histopathological sectioning, intraoperative frozen section examination, immunohistochemistry, gynecologic and non-gynecologic liquid-based cytology, special staining, and cellular DNA ploidy detection.

The department is fully equipped with complete hardware: Sakura fully automatic tissue processor, Sakura embedding station with cooling plate, Leica microtome, Leica automated stainer, Thermo Fisher Scientific automatic coverslipper, Leica cryostat, Roche automated immunohistochemistry staining system, and BD fully automatic liquid-based slide preparation and staining system.

Since its establishment, the department has achieved standardized daily operation with annual testing workload rising year by year and a steadily expanding workforce. Its scale will be further expanded after the hospital’s new building is fully put into use.

Under the leadership of the department director, diagnostic physicians continuously upgrade professional capabilities, while technical staff improve slide preparation quality. The whole team actively develops new testing items. A strong academic learning atmosphere prevails in the department, with friendly and supportive teamwork.
