The Pharmacy Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital is a comprehensive pharmaceutical technical service department integrating drug procurement and supply management, prescription dispensing, drug quality control, adverse drug reaction monitoring, clinical pharmacy, medication education and pharmaceutical teaching. It undertakes full-hospital drug supply and prescription dispensing, and provides pharmaceutical technical services including monitoring, evaluation, analysis and guidance for rational clinical medication. Meanwhile, it performs administrative functions to publicize and implement theNational Drug Administration Law and Regulations on Pharmaceutical Affairs Management in Medical Institutions.

The department consists of five functional sections: drug warehouse, outpatient western pharmacy, outpatient TCM pharmacy, inpatient pharmacy and clinical pharmacy office. It has a total staff of 37 personnel, including 3 senior professional title holders, 11 intermediate title holders and 21 junior title holders. In terms of academic background, 21 staff hold bachelor’s degrees (including 9 full-time bachelor’s degrees), 11 hold junior college degrees and 3 hold secondary technical school degrees. The department boasts strong technical strength, complete professional coverage and a well-structured talent echelon.

Under the guidance of the hospital president and the leadership of the department director, the Pharmacy Dept has continuously explored and made remarkable progress in modern pharmacy management, clinical pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical education in recent years. The outpatient western pharmacy has been awarded the honor of “Shenzhen Youth Civilization Post”. The outpatient TCM pharmacy has passed the acceptance and re-inspection of Shenzhen “Trustworthy TCM Pharmacy”“. In terms of adverse drug reaction monitoring, the department was consecutively recognized as an “Advanced Unit” by the Shenzhen Drug Administration for three years starting from 2012.

Adhering to the tenet of wholehearted service for medical staff and patients, all staff members forge ahead in accordance with the construction standards of Grade III general hospitals. The department is preparing to launch centralized intravenous drug compounding services in due course. With a clear development roadmap, it strengthens team building, talent training and talent introduction, delivers comprehensive and high-quality pharmaceutical services for clinical departments and patients, and strives to build an academic-oriented pharmacy department.
