Founded 13 years ago, the Functional Examination Dept adheres to the medical spirit of "pursuing excellence, staying pragmatic, working diligently and dedicating wholeheartedly". The team maintains a positive work attitude, enthusiastic service and down-to-earth work style, striving to build an integrated discipline covering clinical services, teaching, scientific research and professional training. The department consists of two divisions: the Ultrasound Room and the Electrocardiogram (ECG) Room, mainly undertaking ultrasound imaging diagnosis and electrocardiographic diagnosis for all clinical departments across the hospital.
A standardized management mode featuring equality and mutual assistance has been implemented, forming a sound talent echelon. The Ultrasound Room is divided into five specialized groups: Abdominal & Superficial Small Organ Group, Cardiovascular Group, Obstetrics & Gynecology Group, Interventional Ultrasound Group, and Musculoskeletal Group.
The Ultrasound Room has a total of 29 medical staff, including 26 physicians and 3 nurses; 96% hold bachelor’s degrees or above, and 77% possess intermediate or higher professional titles. The department attaches great importance to basic theoretical knowledge and talent team development.
Keeping pace with advanced domestic and international ultrasound diagnostic technologies, the department operates around 18 ultrasound examination rooms equipped with 18 ultrasound diagnostic systems, including high-end color Doppler ultrasound machines from GE, PHILIPS, SIEMENS and other well-known brands.
Routine color Doppler ultrasound examinations cover the heart and great peripheral vessels, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen, kidneys, ureters and bladder, uterus, bilateral ovaries and adnexa, prostate, seminal vesicles, scrotum, testes, epididymides and spermatic cords, breasts and thyroid glands, abdominal and thoracic cavities, fetuses and fetal appendages, as well as superficial soft tissues. Ultrasound-guided puncture biopsy techniques are also performed, such as ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy for breast masses.
In terms of prenatal ultrasound diagnosis, the department undertakes all hospital fetal prenatal screening, with approximately 18,000 examinations conducted each year. Through continuous learning and experience accumulation, the team has accumulated abundant experience in prenatal ultrasound diagnosis of fetal cardiovascular malformations, nervous system malformations, digestive tract malformations and genital malformations.
In accordance with hospital requirements, the department continuously optimizes core medical systems and quality control systems, devoting itself to advancing diagnostic standards and safeguarding patient safety. Active communication and collaboration are maintained with other clinical disciplines to achieve mutual progress.
To facilitate the launch of new hemodynamic examination technologies and services, the department prioritizes talent cultivation. More than one hundred classic and cutting-edge reference books on ultrasound are available, laying a solid theoretical foundation for disciplinary development and staff learning. Case seminars are held twice a month to integrate theory with clinical practice, comprehensively elevating the overall diagnostic capacity of the department. Scientific research output is steadily improving, with strengthened cooperation with other hospitals in Shenzhen to lay a solid foundation for disciplinary construction.
The ECG Room has 7 staff members, among whom 2 hold associate senior professional titles (with over 15 years of electrocardiography experience each) and 2 are attending physicians (with more than 5 years of electrocardiography experience each).
Equipped with one set of 12-lead synchronous ECG network information system, 2 sets of 24-hour Holter monitors, 5 real-time 24-hour ECG monitoring devices, 2 sets of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors, one treadmill exercise test system, one exercise blood pressure monitoring system and supporting ECG data analysis software, the room provides the following examinations: routine 12-lead synchronous ECG, cardiac drug provocation tests, 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiography, real-time 24-hour ECG monitoring, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and treadmill exercise stress tests.
