The Central Laboratory Dept of Shenzhen Bao'an District Songgang People's Hospital is a modern medical central laboratory.

Located on the 5th floor of the hospital outpatient building, the laboratory covers an area of over 300 square meters and contains a Clinical Gene Amplification Laboratory (PCR Lab). It is laid out in full compliance with standards for modern medical laboratories, and its Clinical Gene Amplification Laboratory is the first laminar flow PCR laboratory in Bao'an District. The laboratory boasts a high-caliber workforce of 6 staff members: 1 Chief Medical Technologist, 1 Senior Medical Technologist, 1 Intermediate Research Fellow, 1 Medical Technologist, 1 Junior Medical Technologist and 1 trainee. Five staff hold bachelor’s degrees or above, including 1 PhD holder and 1 master’s degree holder.
All technical staff have professional backgrounds in laboratory medicine, corresponding professional titles and official certificates for working in clinical gene amplification laboratories. Every position requires rigorous pre-job training and assessment.

Staff members are regularly sent for advanced training at top-tier hospitals including Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital), National Center for Skin Disease and STD Control, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital. Continuous further education elevates the overall competency of the team and forms a complete experimental medicine system.

The laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art testing devices: ABI7300 fully automatic fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument, HybriMax hybridization system by KaiPu, nucleic acid amplifiers, high-speed tabletop centrifuges, high-speed refrigerated centrifuges, biological safety cabinets, dry constant temperature incubators, UV disinfection trolleys, shakers and electrophoresis apparatuses.

4. Continuously Optimized Management

The department obtained ISO9001-2000 international quality system certification as early as 2000, passed inspection and acceptance by the National Center for Clinical Laboratories in 2005, the re-inspection by Guangdong Center for Clinical Laboratories in 2011, and technical acceptance organized by Guangdong Center for Clinical Laboratories in 2017.
5. Comprehensive Test Items with Reliable Results
The laboratory conducts molecular biological testing on specimens including blood, urine, stool, semen, pleural fluid, ascites, prostatic fluid and cerebrospinal fluid, covering a total of 19 test panels: Hepatitis B virus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, herpes simplex virus, human papillomavirus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Epstein-Barr virus, human cytomegalovirus and enteroviruses causing hand-foot-mouth disease, providing credible diagnostic evidence for clinical practice.
To guarantee accurate test results, a quality control supervision team is established to conduct regular internal quality control inspections. The laboratory consistently participates in external quality assessment programs organized by the National Health Commission and Guangdong Province, with all enrolled test items achieving qualified certification to ensure result precision.
