To further advance frontier progress in multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment and boost high-quality development of General Surgery, the 2024 General Surgery High-Quality Development Conference & Seminar on Frontier Advances in Multidisciplinary Comprehensive Treatment was successfully held in the conference room on the 10th floor of Building 1 of our hospital on January 25. The event was sponsored by Bao'an Medical Association and our hospital, and co-organized by Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and Shenzhen Bao'an Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital.

Academician Zheng Shusen of the Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the seminar online and delivered an address. Professor Wei, Chief Physician of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Assistant to the President of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Hospital and Executive Vice President of Gansu Branch of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Hospital; Professor Deng Zhenyu, President of Shenzhen Bao'an Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital and Chief Physician of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery; and Mo Yaxian, Party Secretary of our hospital attended and delivered opening speeches. The opening ceremony was hosted by Wang Wei, Member of the Party Committee of our hospital. Medical and nursing staff from General Surgery and related departments attended the conference.

Centering on cutting-edge developments in general surgery, participants discussed discipline development in depth. The conference systematically elaborated on pathways for high-quality development of general surgery covering clinical practice, teaching, scientific research and administration. Comprehensive training sessions were offered for participants to master core management theories for high-quality development of general surgery and hospitals, as well as updated clinical standards, latest advances and innovative research applications in this specialty. Attendees learned to apply systematic, scientific development concepts to daily surgical practice, laying a solid foundation for high-standard clinical services and benefiting residents in Songgang, Yanluo and surrounding areas.
The conference invited Academician Zheng Shusen’s expert team and numerous distinguished professors to deliver lectures. Speakers included Professor Wei (Hepatobiliary Surgery, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center), Professor Li Jianhui (Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery, Shulan Hospital Hangzhou), Professor Wang Yong (Executive Director of General Surgery & Director of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University), Professor He Qian (Director of Hepatobiliary Surgery, General Hospital of Shenzhen University), Professor Fan Wenhua (Colorectal Surgery, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Hospital), together with Professors Zeng Zhiwu and Ma Wengui from the General Surgery Department of our hospital.

In addition, many medical and nursing specialists were invited to provide guidance and facilitate exchanges. Apart from Professor He Qian and Professor Wang Yong, other presiding experts onsite included Professor Zhang Qunyou, Deputy Director of Nursing at Hong Kong Union Hospital, Professor Li Rongjiang from Bao'an Central Hospital and Professor He Zheng from Shiyan People’s Hospital of Bao'an District.
Focused on high-quality development of general surgery, experts delivered a series of lectures including Improvement of Surgery-related National Assessment Indicators, Advances and Technical Innovations in Comprehensive Treatment of Hepatobiliary Tumors, Specialized Techniques in Gastrointestinal Surgery, Spatial Anatomy and Surgical Approaches of Uncinate Process of Pancreatic Head, Treatment of Colorectal Cancer in the Minimally Invasive Surgery Era, Clinical Experience in the Management of Pancreatic Injury, New Advances in Surgical Diagnosis and Treatment of Diaphragmatic Hernia, Interventional Therapy for Hepatic Tumors, Report on High-Quality Development of General Surgery, and Advances in General Surgery Nursing.
Interactive academic discussion sessions were arranged between lectures to help participants digest knowledge. Specialists, lecturers and attendees held in-depth exchanges on the topics covered, creating a lively atmosphere for thorough question-and-answer discussions.

This conference built an exchange platform for medical and nursing staff of General Surgery and related departments to communicate with renowned academic specialists. It greatly helped improve our hospital’s capacity for diagnosing and treating complicated diseases and boosted the development of multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment. Going forward, our hospital will adhere to the patient-centered service philosophy, provide regular multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment services, and integrate resources and strengths of all departments to continuously optimize patients’ medical experience.
