On July 2, 2019, the thesis proposal defense for 2018 master students was held at the Pharmacy Department on the 16th floor of the Inpatient Complex Building. Wu Jianlong, Director of the Pharmacy Department of Shenzhen Second People's Hospital, served as the group leader of the expert appraisal panel. Panel members included Chen Guihong, Party Secretary and President of our Hospital and Adjunct Professor of the School of Pharmacy, Guangzhou Medical University; Professor Zhang Mei from the School of Pharmacy, Guangzhou Medical University; Zhang Suolong, Director of the Cardiology Dept of our Hospital; and Zhang Jinhua, Director of the Pharmacy Dept of our Hospital. The experts evaluated the scientificity, novelty and feasibility of the research project Study on OATP1B1 and CES1 Gene Polymorphisms and Their Effects on the Pharmacokinetics of Sacubitril/Valsartan under Multifactorial Conditions proposed by master student Kang Huaning (Supervisor: Chen Guihong).

Kang Huaning, a 2018 master student, made full preparations for the upcoming research and delivered a detailed presentation on the research topic. All panel experts reviewed the project with rigorous standards, delivered incisive comments, offered instructive suggestions and raised in-depth questions on existing deficiencies of the research. In response to the questions, Kang Huaning gave comprehensive, professional replies based on academic knowledge and preliminary research data.
In conclusion, all panel experts reached a unanimous conclusion: the student had conducted thorough literature research; the project featured research value, scientific design and an innovative research direction. The research methods and implementation plan were generally reasonable with an appropriate difficulty level, and the thesis proposal was approved.
