The Department of Nuclear Medicine was established in 1998 and is located on the first floor of the Internal Medicine Building. It is a specialty in radionuclide imaging and therapy serving the western part of Shenzhen. The department is the Vice Chair Unit of the Nuclear Medicine Branch of the Shenzhen Medical Association and the Physician Association.

Currently, the department has 9 staff members, including 1 Chief Physician, 1 Associate Chief Physician, 4 with Master's degrees, and 1 with a Bachelor's degree.

The department is equipped with 10 sets of advanced instruments, including GE SPECT, Hologic dual-energy X-ray bone densitometer, and 13C-HP detectors. It is an important place for undertaking various research projects, training undergraduates and postgraduates, and a symbol of the hospital's overall strength. The department serves more than 60,000 patients annually.

Current Major Activities of the Department:

• Whole-body imaging of vital organs using SPECT, including:

  • Whole-body bone imaging

  • Thyroid imaging

  • Renal dynamic imaging and GFR measurement

  • Parathyroid imaging

  • Monitoring of blood circulation after finger replantation

  • Hepatobiliary dynamic imaging
