The Orthopedic Center of Shenzhen Bao'an People's Hospital is a comprehensive medical, teaching, and research center for orthopedic diseases. It consists of six departments: Trauma Orthopedics, Spine Surgery, Joint Surgery, Hand and Microsurgery, Osteoporosis Department, and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Department. Each department has distinct professional characteristics, with specific services as follows:
Trauma Orthopedics: Specializes in minimally invasive reduction and fixation techniques for limb fractures, surgical treatment of pelvic and acetabular fractures, repair and reconstruction of severe limb trauma, bone infection and defect repair, limb salvage treatment for bone tumors, and repair of chronic refractory wounds.
Spine Surgery: Provides standardized diagnosis and treatment for various spinal cord diseases, including occipitocervical injuries, tumors, tuberculosis, developmental deformities, various types of cervical spondylosis, cervical spinal stenosis, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament, thoracic disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and lumbar spondylolisthesis.
Joint Surgery: Expertise in treating sports injuries and diseases of the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow joints. Routinely performs hip and knee preservation surgeries, artificial joint replacements, and revision surgeries.
Hand and Microsurgery: Experienced in treating hand surgery diseases such as hand injuries, pediatric orthopedic diseases, minimally invasive orthopedic surgeries, and chronic sports injuries. Also proficient in treating microsurgical diseases, including repair of limb nerves, blood vessels, and tendons, as well as lymphatic-venous anastomosis.
Osteoporosis Department: Offers standardized bone health diagnosis, treatment, and management services for the elderly, develops professional plans for bone health issues in women of childbearing age and children, and treats secondary osteoporosis.
Orthopedic Rehabilitation Department: Routinely provides rehabilitation for sports injuries, chronic musculoskeletal pain, post-joint surgery rehabilitation, and posture adjustment for adolescents and children.
The center currently has over 100 beds and 86 medical staff, including 1 high-level talent from Shenzhen, 1 overseas high-level talent from Shenzhen, and 3 high-level talents from Bao'an District. As a key discipline in Bao'an District's "13th Five-Year Plan" and "14th Five-Year Plan," the Orthopedic Center has achieved significant scientific research results: it has undertaken more than 20 municipal-level projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, published over 130 academic papers in top international medical journals such as "NATURE MEDICINE" and "BMJ", and obtained 20 national intellectual property authorizations.
The center has been approved as the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Trauma Treatment and Regenerative Medicine, the Guangdong Provincial Academician Workstation for Wound Repair and Regenerative Medicine, and the Shenzhen Innovation Platform for Trauma Treatment and Regenerative Medicine. It has also obtained the hospital's first GCP qualification for medical devices. The center actively introduces external high-quality resources and collaborates with the "Academician Fu Xiaobing Team" from the PLA General Hospital in Beijing and the "Professor YUNG Shu-hang Team" from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. An expert guidance committee composed of ten renowned domestic experts from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Southern Hospital of Southern Medical University, and other institutions provides solid technical support for the center.
