Stomatology Dept is one of the largest departments for stomatological treatment, scientific research, and preventive health care in Shenzhen. It is equipped with 50 comprehensive dental units, and has 62 dentists, most of whom graduated from top 50 dental schools worldwide. Among them, 3 have doctoral degrees, 45 have master’s degrees, 3 hold senior professional titles, and 37 hold intermediate professional titles.
In the past five years, the department has published 25 papers, including 16 SCI papers, and undertaken 9 research projects. The annual number of diagnosis, treatment and health care visits exceeds 200,000.
Academic Leader
Zhou Xincai, PhD, Chief Physician, Master Supervisor of Jinan University, Vice Chairman of Shenzhen Dental Implant Professional Committee. Zhou Xincai has published more than 30 papers, including 15 SCI papers, presided over or participated in 6 research projects (including National Natural Science Foundation of China), and served as associate editor and co-author of one monograph respectively.

The department is equipped with advanced international dental equipment: 50 comprehensive dental units (Sirona, Adec, KaVo), Leica E400 root canal microscope, ultrasonic bone knife, dental implant machine, intraoral scanner, nitrous oxide analgesia system, STA computer-controlled anesthesia system, Periodontal Therapy System, high-frequency electrotome, multifunctional ultrasonic therapeutic apparatus, root canal motor, warm gutta-percha obturation unit, etc.
It is independently equipped with radiographic imaging equipment such as NEWTOM VGi CBCT, Kodak 8000C panoramic machine, Sironadental X-ray machine, and digital sensor.

In addition to routine implant surgery, it provides immediate implant and immediate restoration, implant treatment for periodontal patients, aesthetic implant restoration, full-mouth implant, and maxillary sinus external lift.
The department is committed to painless, minimally invasive, aesthetic and comfortable implant technology, especially anterior aesthetic zone implantation. It serves as a practice base for multiple undergraduate and vocational colleges, providing clinical training for more than 10 interns annually.
Dental Prosthodontic Subspecialty
The subspecialty has 11 dentists, 90% with postgraduate degrees and all holding intermediate professional titles. It has rich experience in anterior aesthetic restoration, tooth defect restoration, dentition defect restoration (fixed, removable, overdenture).
The materials and equipment are up to international advanced standards. It has published 3 SCI papers and 5 core journal papers, and serves as a practice base for multiple colleges.
Dental Endodontic Subspecialty
The subspecialty has 15 dentists, all Attending Physicians. Equipped with root canal microscope, nickel-titanium rotary root canal preparation system, warm gutta-percha obturation unit, electronic apex locator, multifunctional ultrasonic therapeutic apparatus, etc.
Services: minimally invasive caries treatment, painless endodontic treatment, microscopic root canal therapy, modern root canal therapy, young permanent tooth preservation, aesthetic restoration of tooth defects. It has published 2 SCI papers and 3 core journal papers, and undertakes teaching tasks.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Subspecialty
The subspecialty has 12 dentists, all postgraduates from well-known universities and Attending Physicians.
Services: tooth extraction, pre-prosthetic surgery, labial and lingual frenectomy, oral-antral fistula repair, debridement and suture, traumatic tooth fixation, crown lengthening, resection of small maxillofacial tumors.

Goal: reduce the prevalence of periodontitis in Bao’an District and Shenzhen; increase the number of remaining teeth (≥20) among people aged 50 in Shenzhen; eliminate gingival bleeding and halitosis.
Oral Mucosa Subspecialty
It is the only public specialized clinic for oral mucosal diseases in Bao’an District. It has 1 dentist with master’s degree from a famous dental school.
