The Department of Gynecology has a professional team with rich clinical experience, strong technical capacity, and solid teaching and research capabilities. The academic leader is Dr. Lin Anping, Associate Chief Physician and Master’s Supervisor, whose research focuses on gynecologic oncology, pelvic floor disorders and surgeries, with expertise in minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant gynecological diseases and female intimate plastic surgery.
The department currently has 30 physicians, including 6 Chief Physicians, 14 Associate Chief Physicians, 8 Attending Physicians, and 2 Resident Physicians. Among them, 2 hold doctoral degrees, 12 hold master’s degrees, and 16 hold bachelor’s degrees. Many physicians have received advanced training at renowned hospitals worldwide, including St. Mary's Hospital, Imperial College London (UK), West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, and Chongqing Haifu Hospital.
With strong clinical capabilities, the department runs general wards, a day-surgery ward, and several specialized clinics: General Gynecology Clinic, Cervicovaginal Lesions Clinic, Family Planning Clinic, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Center, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Gynecology Clinic. It features specialized care in gynecologic oncology, minimally invasive and non-invasive gynecology, HIFU therapy, and reproductive surgery, and treats a full range of gynecological conditions including benign and malignant tumors, endometriosis, genital tract malformations, pelvic organ prolapse, and genital tract infections.
Gynecology Wards
The department provides high-quality diagnosis and treatment for common and frequently occurring gynecological diseases. More than 90% of surgeries are minimally invasive, including procedures for cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, ovarian cancer, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, and female intimate plastic surgery. It also provides chemotherapy for malignant tumors and PICC catheterization.
Advanced hysteroscopic surgeries are performed, including myomectomy, uterine malformation correction, and transcervical resection of intrauterine adhesions. Single-port transumbilical laparoscopic surgery is now routinely used, offering improved cosmetic results, less postoperative pain, and faster recovery, and is well received by patients.
Since the introduction of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for uterine fibroids in 2019, the technique has been widely used to treat uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, cesarean scar pregnancy, abdominal wall endometriosis, and placenta accreta. More than 1,000 cases have been treated with excellent outcomes. HIFU is non-invasive, scar-free, bloodless, and preserves organs and fertility, establishing the department’s reputation in non-invasive gynecological treatment.
Gynecology Clinics
The annual outpatient volume reaches nearly 200,000 visits. The department has extensive experience in treating gynecologic oncology, pelvic floor dysfunction, female genital tract infections, endocrine disorders, endometriosis, senescence-related gynecological diseases, early pregnancy complications, family planning, and complex gynecological disorders. It provides precise, individualized diagnosis, treatment, and consultation.
The Family Planning Clinic offers medical abortion, painless visual artificial abortion, Post-Abortion Care (PAC), intrauterine device insertion and removal, and hysterosalpingography.
The Cervicovaginal Lesions Clinic is equipped with colposcopy rooms, day-surgery rooms, and treatment rooms, and specializes in the diagnosis and management of cervical lesions, lower genital tract neoplasms, personalized treatment of genital infections, and vaginal and vulvar diseases.
The Day-Surgery Ward routinely performs hysteroscopy, intrauterine surgeries, and minor procedures for cervical, vaginal, and vulvar diseases. Patients can be admitted, operated on, and discharged on the same day, greatly shortening hospital stays and improving service quality.
Nursing Team
The department has 37 nurses, including 5 Associate Chief Nurses, 8 Nurse-in-Charges; 1 with a master’s degree, 24 with bachelor’s degrees, and 12 with college degrees.
Six nurses are certified PAC counselors, including 4 senior PAC counselors, who have made outstanding contributions to reproductive health protection and repeat abortion prevention.
The department provides port implantation and PICC maintenance services and runs a nursing specialist clinic. TCM appropriate techniques are actively applied; among them, ear acupoint pressing notably promotes postoperative intestinal function recovery and greatly reduces the use of enema.
In 2019, the project “Improving the Medical Experience of Outpatient Surgical Patients in Gynecology” won the Silver Award at the 5th Guangdong Provincial Hospital Comprehensive Quality Service Management Competition.
