On September 13, Shenzhen Bao'an Women's and Children's Hospital held a voluntary blood donation campaign under the theme “Donate Blood, Save Lives — A Duty of Medical Professionals”. By the end of the event, 74 medical staff had signed up, and 66 successfully donated blood, with a total donation volume of 22,800 mL.Bao'an District Central Blood Station, the co-organizer, awarded a Shenzhen Voluntary Blood Donation Certificate of Appreciation to the hospital, in recognition of its long-standing strong support for blood donation and public welfare.

From July to September 2025 marks the 12th “Angel in White Blood Donation Season” in Shenzhen. To advance spiritual civilization, practice core socialist values, demonstrate the public welfare image of medical staff, ease blood supply shortages, and meet clinical demand, the Party Committee and the Communist Youth League Committee of the hospital mobilized participation. Party members and cadres played an exemplary role, donating blood to fulfill their mission and convey love and care.

On the morning of the event, Zhang Sheng, Director of Bao'an District Central Blood Station, Zhu Yuanfang, Party Secretary and President of Shenzhen Bao'an Women's and Children's Hospital, Huang Yanmei, Vice President, and other leaders attended the scene. The atmosphere was warm; participants completed registration, testing and blood donation in an orderly manner in accordance with procedures.

In addition to hospital staff, volunteers, logistics personnel and enthusiastic citizens also joined the donation. All collected blood was sent to Bao'an District Central Blood Station to save critically ill patients and help those in need.

Is blood donation harmful to health?A standard donation (200 mL or 400 mL) is only 5%–10% of total blood volume and does not harm health. After donation, blood stored in the liver and spleen is released to maintain circulation, and bone marrow accelerates production. Research shows blood components fully recover within about two weeks.
