Education is a fundamental undertaking for the country and the Party. Teachers form the foundation and source of educational development. To welcome the upcoming Teachers’ Day, our hospital held the 2024 Teaching Competition from August to September 2024. The competition aimed to inspire teachers’ enthusiasm for teaching, update educational concepts, promote teachers’ professional development, and further elevate the overall teaching standard and talent training quality of the hospital.
Splendid Performances on the Arena
After the preliminary round, 10 outstanding contestants advanced to the final. During the competition, all participants were energetic and demonstrated their strengths perfectly. They integrated modern educational concepts with traditional teaching modes, presenting vivid and engaging lessons. Some teachers adopted multimedia tools and teaching models to visualize abstract knowledge points; some applied question-led guidance and case analysis to stimulate students’ learning initiative; others subtly integrated ideological and ethical education, realizing the organic combination of knowledge imparting and value guidance. Every class sparkled with wisdom and creativity, fully showcasing the teachers’ rigorous teaching attitude and unique teaching styles.

Judges’ Comments: Professional Guidance Empowers Growth
The judge panel consisted of senior professors and distinguished teachers from Sun Yat-sen University and Southern Medical University. They reviewed each performance carefully and impartially, evaluating teaching content, methods and professional demeanor, and offered targeted valuable suggestions based on each teacher’s teaching characteristics. The professional and pertinent comments benefited all contestants greatly and pointed out directions for their future teaching practice.

After four hours of intense competition, the event came to a successful close. Following strict, fair and scientific scoring criteria combined with preliminary results, five expert judges awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 4 Excellence Awards.

Second Prize: Yao Ju (Nursing Teaching Group), Zhan Shigui (Pediatrics Teaching Group)

Third Prize: Zhang Lin (Gynecology Teaching Group), Cai Lisha (Nursing Teaching Group), Qiu Huiwen (Nursing Teaching Group)

The remaining four contestants won the Excellence Award.
On behalf of the hospital, Director Cheng extended warm congratulations to all award winners, encouraging them to build on strengths, make up for deficiencies, and summarize experience from the competition. The hospital will take this event as an opportunity to further advance the development of clinical teaching.
Influence of teaching lasts a lifetime. The art of teaching lies not only in imparting knowledge and resolving doubts, but also in guiding, inspiring and encouraging learners. The competition has built a platform for teachers to exchange ideas, polish teaching skills and showcase talents. It also motivates all faculty to continuously explore teaching arts and innovate teaching methods, striving to be mentors and companions for medical students, and nurturing compassionate and skilled medical educators for the future.
